Frequently asked questions

What metadata is removed?

For JPEGs we drop every APPn marker segment, which removes EXIF, GPS coordinates, camera info and thumbnails. The pixels stay byte-for-byte identical.

Is the JPEG re-compressed?

No — JPEG cleaning is lossless. We only delete metadata blocks, so there is no quality loss. PNG and WebP are re-encoded since they rarely carry EXIF.

Are my photos uploaded?

No — all metadata stripping happens locally in your browser, so your images and location data stay private.
